REMOVE STRINGS AND FRAME.
Mid October and the key frame was sanded and cleaned up. I need to source the replacement balance rail pins and front rail pins. On this particular instrument the front rail pins were a larger diameter than the pins obtainable today.For this reason it was decided to obtain the new pins from an American company that specialise in bespoke quality piano parts.This company supplied us with correct diameter balance pins (Picture) and extra set of bushing inserts for the new front rail pins.
Wessell products are superb quality with an ultra smooth surface to reduce friction and an improvement on the standard plated pins.
TUNING PIN/STRINGS REMOVAL
The downbearing must always be measured before any strings are removed and this was carried out.Precise measurements of the strings were taken and then all were removed.
The tuning pins were then removed.
FRAME REMOVAL
The frame was lifted out
