With the workshop out of action for 11 weeks because of building work, progress has been slow.

The new bridge pins were installed in the bridges and case was set aside to await installation of the frame.
May.
The frame was completely stripped of of finish, rubbed down and 5 coats of primer/sealer were applied. (Pic1)
This was flatted down and the frame was re guilded. This was allowed to dry then 3 coats of clear laquer was applied to complete the process.(Pic 2)
June.
The frame was then lowered into the case and finally screwed down (Pics 3,4.)
Final adjustments of the perimiter bolts will be done when the piano has been re strung and chipped up.

Work started on keys...cleaning up.Installed new Steinway back checks into ends of keys (Pics 6,7.)
Old key bushing felts were steamed out and replaced with new. (Pics 11,12.)
July.
The new Steinway back action was fitted into the case (Pic 8),The damper rail was rebushed and fitted and work was started on replacing the damper felts.
The sostenuto mechanism was cleaned up and fitted to the action stack (Pics 9,10.)
The restringing was then started towards the end of July.(Pic 13)
Restringing will take up first part of August (depending on client workload in workshop).
The next update should see the re stringing completed, the action and keys installed and the long process of adjusting and regulating will commence. At the same time the remaining case parts will be prepared and refinished.
